Casually Recapping The Week That Was In Big 12 Recruiting

Hopefully I can do something like this recapping the week in Big 12 recuiting in a very informal way each Friday or Saturday.  I couldn't really think of a good name for the post, so if you have something more clever, leave a comment.

Texas gets a little trophy for their performance on the recruiting trail last week.
Well, Texas definitely won the past ten days in Big 12 recruiting.  I'm not even sure how many committed, I just know it was a lot.  They got three 2015 commitments since March 23rd in OG Aaron Garza, CB Jalen Campbell, and DT Bryce English.  Right now, only Kansas State, Texas, and TCU have more than three recruits committed for 2014.  They also got several 2014 commitments last weekend around the spring game.  OL Terrell Cuney, DT Trey Lealaimatafao (bravo to any 'Horn fan that can spell his last name without looking), and DE Jake McMillon are those 2014 commits.  Pretty remarkable past ten days or so for Texas.

It may sound like I'm a Texas homer, I'm not.  Let's be honest, as long as Mack Brown is still there, all these kids I just talked about will likely play on some underachieving teams in the future.

For the rest of the Big 12, it was a pretty slow week.  If Texas is the winner, Oklahoma is probably the loser.  But they didn't really lose.  Most saw Armanti Foreman's decommitment coming and it finally happened.  I thought it was classy the way Foreman handled the situation and hey, he may just re-commit to the Sooners.

Well, Iowa State was somewhat busy last weekend.  They hosted their junior day and there was some buzz about a couple guys.  First is IL ATH Tommy Mister who hasn't committed yet, but pretty much has.  The second is elite MN RB Jeff Jones who is committed to the hometown Gophers, but has gained some interest in Iowa State.  Some Cyclone fans believe that Jones will switch to ISU because they believe Iowa State is a obviously a much better program than Minny.  I may or may not be an Cyclone fan, but come on guys...Iowa State is probably a better program, but not by much.  You act like we've won multiple bowl games recently and are one of the better programs in the Big 12.  I doubt Jones switches for Iowa State instead of the likes of Notre Dame.  /endrant.

Kentucky and 'Zona...whaaat?
So I completely missed the news that D.J. Gillins, the top-ranked DUAL QB by 247Sports, decommitted from Texas Tech a week and a half ago.  I'm not sure how, but I did.  Obviously a big loss for Tech, but the coaching changes had a lot to do with it.  Maybe he was one of the recruits that ole' Tubs ditched at dinner to leave for Cincy.  Gillins seems to have Arizona and Kentucky as the favorites, a pretty bizarre combination of schools for a guy from Florida.

Not really recruiting, well somewhat, but TCU may get the services of former Auburn RB Michael Dyer.  Nobody doubts how good Dyer is as he is an NFL-caliber back, but he's got quite the baggage.  He transferred to Arkansas State, but was pulled over a year ago with marijuana and a hand gun in the car.  Obviously he was dismissed.  Also, he was one of many players that had their grades changed at Auburn in these new allegations.  Sounds like he could fit right in along with Casey Pachall at Texas Christian University.
Possible next TCU RB.
Baylor has their spring game this weekend and will host many recruits including WR KD Cannon, OL Ty Barrett, and 5-star DE Myles Garrett.  Besides that, the other schools (OSU, KSU, KU, WVU) really didn't have much going on recruiting-wise.  If there was something I missed regarding those four teams, hit me up on Twitter or leave a comment.
