Report:  Donald "Duke" Catalon is arguably the best running back in the state of Texas for 2014.  Despite splitting time with others, he still has rushed for over 1000 yards and 7 TDs in each of the last two seasons.  Catalon had a nagging toe injury throughout his junior year which required surgery in the offseason, but he still improved his yards per carry from his sophomore season.

Everyone seems to describe Catalon as a "slippery" player and I agree with that assessment.  He cuts and slides in and out of traffic with relative ease.  With the combination of his size and agility, Catalon may end up as the top back in the Big 12 in 2014.  He has very good speed (not elite) and excellent acceleration to go along with his quickness.  Although he has decent size, he doesn't run with much power and that will probably develop a little down the line.  Still, he showed flashes of physicality on video by leveling a d-lineman and throwing one of the best stiff arms I've ever seen.  Lastly, he can also slip out of the backfield and become a threat in the passing game.  Overall, a very good back and will be a contender for the best in the 2014 Big 12 class.
