WR Cameron Batson And QB Patrick Mahomes Commit To Texas Tech

Texas Tech continued their hot streak as they picked up two commitments on Sunday.  The first to commit was Oklahoma City WR Cameron Batson.  Batson instantly fell in love with Texas Tech, committing the day after his first visit to Lubbock.  Former Tech coach Mike Leach had also offered Batson along with Kansas.  The 3-star prospect stands at 5'8 and will play in the slot under Kingsbury.

The second commitment of the day was TX QB Patrick Mahomes.  After D.J. Gillens decommitted from Texas Tech, it became apparent that Mahomes was the staff's top target at QB. It was even speculated that Mahomes might have been the man they originally wanted.  Regardless, Tech is getting a consensus 3-star prospect that threw for over 3800 yards and 46 TDs last year.  Mahomes chose Tech over offers from Oklahoma State and Rice.   Mahomes will also play baseball for Tech and it sounds like he has a legitimate shot at being an early-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft.

Cameron Batson and Patrick Mahomes became the seventh and eighth commitment in the 2014 class for Tech.
